Blue whales again 2 days ago, along with Sperm whales and 3 different species of dolphins!
What do their 2 blowholes look like? See pictures below to find out!

Blue whale (Balaenoptera musculus): all mysticetes (baleen whales i.e. toothless cetaceans) have 2 blowholes.

Sperm whale (Physeter macrocephalus): all odontocetes (toothed cetaaceans) have only 1 blowhole.
During our very lucky Whale Watching trip we also had a chance to meet a Sperm whale (Physeter macrocephalus) tail-slapping for a long time.
Why do they do it? Just for playing? Or a form of acoustic communication with other Sperm whales? No one knows for sure and probably there is truth in both hypothesis.
Hope you enjoyed the pics. There were all taken by our team member Justin ;-)
