A DIVER'S PARADISE
The Azores are considered the new touristic frontier of scuba diving.
The Gulf Stream creates the ideal conditions for the growth of a rich underwater fauna,
spanning from invertebrates to big pelagics (tuna, barracuda, sharks) and also sting-rays,
mantas, turtles and marine mammals.
Seascapes are impressive for the contrast between the dark lava rocks and the bright
colors of the animals that settled them, among a labyrinth of canals, arcades, caverns
and caves.
Stunning are the dives into the volcanic craters, chosen to match diver’s experience.

PRINCESS ALICE: A SEAMOUNT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ATLANTIC
|
Located at 45 nm SW of Pico, the seamount known as Princess Alice stands out for its biodiversity
and provides a unique opportunity to make close encounters with huge groups of mantas.
The mount itself rises from a depth of 500 metres to about 35 metres below the surface.
Due to the strong current, the descent is made along a line which, sometimes, is better to hold to
for the entire duration of the dive.
Despite the mantas being the main attraction of the spot, it is not uncommon to observe
sharks as well as free-swimming moray eels and various other pelagics.

NIGHT AND CAVERN DIVING
|
Night dives at the Azores give the best opportunity to observe crustaceans and night
hunters such as the moray eels.
Good subjects for macrophotography.
Cave dives are spectacular, as much as the lava grooves and the abundant fauna.
