INTRODUCTION
Are you a keen underwater photographer?
Join one of our Big Blue Photographic Expeditions 2012 and discover the underwater
marvels of the Azores.
Under guidance from
Jan Reyniers
and the CW Azores Team there can be few equal
opportunities to take breathtaking underwater images.
BLUE SHARK & MAKO DIVING
The absolute highlight is diving with the Blue Shark and the Mako in
crystal clear waters, which
makes our island an unparalleled destination for this activity.
In 2011 our success rate with the Mako has increased from 30% to an astonishing 65%, adding further thrill to the experience.
The Blue shark and the Mako occur offshore and entering their realm means
Blue Water Diving.
DIVE PRINCESS ALICE SEAMOUNT
Situated 45 nautical miles off the south coast of Pico, Princess Alice seamount is world-famous
for its carousel of Mobulas (Devil rays) and mantas.
Princess Alice is also inhabited by Jacks, huge Tunas, Barracudas and Sharks.
COASTAL DIVES - PICO, FAIAL, S. JORGE
Among a labyrinth of arcades, canals and caverns the vivid contrast between
the dark volcanic rocks and brightly coloured marine life creates an impressive
seascape.
WHALE & DOLPHIN PARADISE
Our waters are home to more than 20 species of whales and dolphins.
The program includes a Whale Watching trip and a tour to snorkel and freedive
with wild dolphins.
CERTIFICATION LEVEL AND EXPERIENCE
The Big Blue Photographic Expedition is all about providing outstanding opportunities to
take breathtaking images.
For everyone's peace of mind, all participants must be certified to a minimum level equivalent to a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver
and have at least 50 logged dives.
BUOYANCY CONTROL AND SELF-AWARENESS
Shark Diving occurs in deep water, far from coastal recreational activities.
Blue Water Diving, especially in the presence of sharks, is not for the faint hearted or
unpractised diver.
With no points of reference from the sea floor or an adjacent reef it is easy to become disorientated.
Self awareness and excellent buoyancy control are essential.
GOOD KNOWLEDGE OF PHOTOGRAPHY
The advice of professional photographer Jan Reyniers will best put into practice by divers
who have a good underwater photography background.
The Big Blue Photographic Expedition is not meant to be a course for beginners and
Jan Reyniers will not be teaching the basics of photography to the participants.
